Cookware Use & Care Instructions

Before First Use

Before using your new cookware, please read the following instructions and keep for future reference.

  • Remove all labels.
  • Before using, wash your cookware in warm, soapy water then rinse and dry thoroughly. This will remove any residue that is left over from manufacturing and packaging of your new purchase.
  • To ensure suitability and correct care and use for your new cookware always refer to packaging to determine if suitable for oven or induction use.
  • If packaging states non-stick follow below instructions:
  • To help achieve best the results from non-stick cookware, we recommend:
    • pre-conditioning by simply applying a light coating of cooking oil using a paper towel or cloth, then wipe around the total interior surface of the cookware.
    • Wipe off any excess oil. DO NOT use spray on oils, spraying oils have an ultra-thin layer of oil that will burn off at low temperatures and can leave a sticky residue that reduces the non-stick properties of your cookware.

Cooking General Information

  • Keep small children away from the cookware area while you are cooking with heat. Heat, steam, hot food and oils can splatter from cookware when in use.
  • Never cook with birds or small pets in or near the kitchen. Smoke & fumes from every day cooking as well as overheating cooking oils and fats can be harmful to birds and other small pets as their respiratory systems are sensitive.
  • If using salt, only add to boiling water as adding salt to cold water may cause pitting in your cookware.
  • This cookware is not intended for commercial use.
  • Not suitable for Microwave use.
  • Never cut food in the pan interior.
  • If packaging states non-stick follow below instructions:
  • To ensure the longer life of your non-stick cookware it is recommended to only usewooden or nylon utensils.
  • Do not use spray on oils! Spraying oils have an ultra-thin layer of oil that will burn off at low temperatures and can leave a sticky residue that reduces the non-stick properties of your cookware.
  • With use, slight surface marks, abrasions and discolouration are normal and will not affect the non-stick performance of the surface. This is not covered by the Guarantee.

General Cooktop And Oven Use

  • When cooking, use low to medium heat to ensure the most efficient performance of your cookware. Lower temperatures will also assist in retaining your foods natural moisture and flavours.
  • High heat should only be used for searing over very short periods of time.
  • ALWAYS USE a heat source smaller than the diameter of the cookware base. This will ensure you are getting the most efficient cooking performance from your cookware.
  • Never leave an empty cookware item on a hot burner or element.
  • Avoid leaving your cookware on a burner or element unattended for long periods of time.
  • If packaging or sleeve states OVEN SAFE follow below instructions:
  • Suitable for use in oven max temperature 220°C/428°F for stainless steel handles and 180°C/356°F for Bakelite handles WITHOUT LID.
  • When using with glass lid in oven max temperature 180°C/356°F.
  • If packaging states NON-STICK follow below instructions:
  • Non-stick pans should not be used under a grill, as this will damage the non-stick surface of the pan.

Cooktop Ceramic, Glass & Induction Cooktops

  • Always follow your cooktop manufacturer's instruction for correct cooktop use and for specific cookware restrictions.
  • When using on any glass cooktops, always lift item in an upward direction to avoid damaging cooktop. To prevent unnecessary scratches DO NOT drag or slide the cookware over the hob.
  • On glass cooktops, take care that your cooktop and the base of the pan/pot are perfectly clean to avoid anything getting trapped between the pan and the cooktop, thereby scratching the surface of the cooktop.
  • If packaging states INDUCTION SUITABLE follow below instructions:
    • Induction is a very rapid heat transfer source. Do not overheat or rapidly heat up empty pots or pans as excessive heat can damage the cookware or cooktop. When pre heating your cookware we recommend to use a mid-range temperature setting.
    • A buzzing sound may occur when the heat setting is high. This is due to a technicality and does not indicate a fault either in the hob or in the cookware.
    • Always dry the base of your cookware before cooking, especially if using on a ceramic, halogen or induction hob, otherwise the pan may stick to the hob.
    • NOTE: The efficiency of the pan may be affected by the diameter & power of your induction cooktop.
    • Baccarat will not be responsible for damage to cooktops.

Handles & Knobs

  • Do not allow the handles of your cookware to extend over a hot burner.
  • To minimise overheating of handles and knobs, the heat source should not exceed the diameter of the saucepan base.
  • Handles and knobs can get hot in use. Use of oven gloves, pot holders or other suitable heat protection is highly recommended.
  • Check that the screws on both pan and lid handles are secure before use.
  • Periodically check that screws on handle attachments are secure and tighten as required.
  • Never use a pan that has a loose handle.
  • Always use an oven glove or pot holder when removing the cookware from the cooker hob or oven.
  • Over extended cooking times for stainless steel handles, even “stay cool”, may heat up, as stainless steel is a conductor of heat. The term “stay cool” is a reference to the length of time it takes for the handle to heat under normal cooking conditions. In order to minimise heat transfer from the saucepan body to the handle, the handles are fixed to the body with minimal fixing points.

Glass Lids:

  • When removing a lid during cooking, tilt it to direct steam away from you and always use oven gloves or pot holders as both lid handle and steam will get hot.
  • Do not use metal utensils and sharp abrasives when cleaning as this may scratch glass and cause it to weaken.
  • Do not use glass lids that have scratches and cracks as breaking may occur.
  • Avoid extreme temperature changes when using glass lid as breaking may occur.
  • When using Glass lid in oven max temperature 180°C/356°F.

Cleaning For Non-Stick:

  • After cooking DO NOT immerse your hot pan in cold water as this may result in irreversible warping. Always let the pan cool to room temperature before cleaning.
  • To prevent scratches, never scrub your cookware with a steel wool pad or any harsh abrasive cleaners.
  • To ensure the longer life of your non-stick cookware, it is recommended to only use wooden or nylon utensils. DO NOT use spray on oils, spraying oils have an ultra-thin layer of oil that will burn off at low temperatures and can leave a sticky residue that reduces the non-stick properties of your cookware.
  • Cookware is dishwasher safe, however, it is recommended to wash in warm soapy water using a soft sponge or soft brush. If you do wash in dishwasher, wash on mild cycle with mild detergent. Repeated dishwasher cleaning and dishwasher detergent may cause oxidation to the rivet and base areas over time, however, this will not affect the performance of the cookware.
  • To help preserve the non-stick surface and ensure the best performance from your cookware, we recommend to periodically apply a few drops of cooking oil into the interior surface of the pan, especially after cleaning in a dishwasher.
